It will never be fixed. The entire game is programmed like that, to access a very volatile region. The Switch can't be fixed because it's a hardware issue. Other developers had the intelligence to avoid using it too much but GameFreak just went balls deep into it.

Can this be mitigated by turning auto-saves off, or does the game autosave regardless of your setting when you do wild area distributions/wondercards? Doesn't the SD card have to be exFAT if you're using larger capacity cards?

I assumed that if I just removed the SD card and only played sword without the card in, I’d be all good. But now I’m hearing that playing without a card could lead to the switch getting bricked, what the fuck is happening here?
