Itt: Post whether or not you completed the national pokedex for each gen and why not if you didn't.

Did it in Firered, Platinum, SoulSilver, Emerald, White and Black2. Yes I have no life. Didn't do it in the others because I was lazy and they were worse games.

Gen 1 - no, only got to play stadium and snap at a friend's house until discovering emulation way later, never got a physical copy and refuse to buy digital on a dying system.

Gen 2 - no, no friends for link cable that still played pokemon, but caught everything available in crystal.

Gen 3 - yes, my sister started playing, we got a link cable, and between the two of us we had all the main games + colo/xd, also attended 10th anniversary events for mythicals.

Gen 4 - yes, kept all my gen 3 bros plus caught everything myself before resetting pearl to give to my sister while keeping my stuff on diamond.

Gen 5 - yes, same as before with transfer + reset + give extra version to sister.

Gen 6 - yes, same as above.

Gen 7 - yes, except we each bought our own copies this time around because I wasn't spending $80 after the mess that was oras but begrudgingly upgraded to used copies of usum after a while since there were new pokemon introduced that didn't get patched into sm.

Gen 8 will be the 1st gen I totally skip by choice. Waiting on a romhack/fan game to implement all the pokemon while I enjoy other games.

Gen 2 - Same as above

Gen 3 - Yes, shout out to the kid at summer camp who showed off what his action replay could do

Gens 4-7 - Always had a complete dex since gen 3, so obviously yes

Getting every line is easy enough, so I basically was some breeding short of finishing it in Gens 4, 5, and 6. I just couldn't ever be bothered to breed and level up hundreds of Pokemon to fill up NFE dex entries for whatever was transfered in each gen though. If transferring dex data was possible, I'd probly actually have NatDex for each of these gens, but alas its not that simple. Never bothered to transfer the collection to SM though so those games are woefully empty.

I completed Silver and Emerald. Can't prove Silver because the internal battery died alongside my love for the franchise.
After gen III I stopped for a bit, skipping a few gens and when I came back I simply couldn't be arsed anymore.

Later on I got Gameshark and gave them both to me, but also messed with the glitches even later on.

Yes, except Deoxys; I managed to get a Celebi at a local event, and a cloned Mew from a friend; had a living dex in Box

Yes, thanks to GTS + events, but I never compiled a living dex, might not have one.

Yes, started RNG abuse that gen and it was amazingly fun so I was very gung-ho on catching everything I could, never compiled a living dex but I probably have one across all four games.
