Bottlecaps are back, unfortunately they still require you to be 100 still iirc
Though this is offset by EXP candies which you get from raids, making leveling easier
And finally you can pass egg moves by putting 2 mons of the same species in the daycare together, useful for random shinies and Gmax Pokemon you catch.

yeah they just meant the ability to change natures, ev's and egg moves more easily, not that you could make pokemon stronger or more viable than normal
