>>41214656For the most part, yes it is simple as it looks. Take your webm. Route 7 really is abysmal. Route 8 is actually alright by pokemon standards (well not visually), there is enough to explore that in any other game it would be a nice addition. Well the first half, once you get to the snowy bit it is a straight line with one road off to a camp. The Route 9 is a decent enough water route with some extra areas, followed by Route 10 which is a line with a bend. And these are the end routes, this is when the level design is starting to push itself.
At very best I'd called the route design inconsistent, but there is so little of it in general in ultimately doesn't get to make up for those moments. The Wild Area really sums this up, it isn't big enough to be an actual exploring area but not small enough to be smartly designed. Honestly the whole game should be smaller wild area like designs, you know like every single other modern JRPG.
