Orange screen has been an issue with the Switch for years. It’s happened to people playing all kinds of titles. I’ve seen a few saying they were playing Odyssey when it happened. A handful of cases with a huge release like this doesn’t seem too surprising.

Are we certain this is connected to the SD card corruption issue and not something completely different?

It seems safe to assume they're connected since the nip in the OP was streaming at the time his Switch bricked and the game locked up at an autosave point. The game softlocks and the data's gone either way, the only difference seems to be whether or not the Switch comes back on afterwards.

None reported but a twitch streamer is doing a 10 day marathon with other streamers and nothing so far, guy mentioned the bug a few times but just said to turn off autosave and play offline until the first patch comes out.

If he or any other burger streamer bricks it'll be confirmed for actually killing switches and not just a few systems bricking when a new game comes out due to a bug.
