The "kids are easily distracted" thing is just proof that Masuda is out of touch. If you feel kids are losing interest, the way to fix this is to make the game so good that the kids don't want to look away, not so easy and boring that everyone over the age of 12 feels fucking insulted for playing it.
Kids don't need handholding, Fortnite throws you into the game and you spend a huge amount of time getting your shit slapped and dying over and over until you learn to build, hide and aim and kids LOVE that shit. Kids aren't fucking dumb, they grew up on phones, they know how to play a video game. Masuda is just using children as an excuse to remove content and dumb the game down so he doesn't have to think up solutions to creative problems, this is shown in spades when you can't turn off Exp Share and can't catch Pokemon higher level than you.
