The real reason big game sites like IGN are guaranteed to praise an established name like Pokemon is the mutual benefit of doing so. Video games are their source of revenue, so of course they want the franchise to stay alive - no matter how much the community sours. Video game developers get more revenue from positive reviews, which helps them stay in business, so of course critics will praise it.
