>>41221022>Because that's what you perceive that *insert first pokemon game you played here* offered you.Gen 1 is short as hell and has absolutely nothing to do once you beat the Champion and get your Mewtwo, the sprites until Yellow are fucking ass, there are dozens of dumb oversights and outright bugs, etc, etc...
...but it has several dungeons of note, I'm generally not always overleveled unless I went out of my way to become properly leveled to do the Gyms out of order, I can do the Gyms out of order at all, etc.
You feel like you're on an adventure. This isn't some soul vs soulless thing, the only time S/S even comes close is when you're in the Wild Area, and that's a tiny part of the game.
and fuck, later Pokemon games outright improve on this -- gen 4 (well, Platinum at least -- didn't play D/P when it came out after seeing how god damn slow it was) really feels like an adventure, underlying battle mechanics have been improved, the graphics are acceptable given the hardware (unlike S/S), there haven't been major mechanics oversights from G/S onwards, etc
we're on a downward slide and have been since X/Y, which are starting to look downright competent in comparison
>>41221242You could, in theory, get all 386 Pokemon released to date after going to events and trading in ones not found in R/S.
then all 493 in Gen 4
then all 649 in Gen 5
then all 721 in Gen 6
then all 807 in Gen 7 (well, 802 in S/M, it's 807 in US/UM)
of the nearly 1000 Pokemon that exist now, you literally cannot catch them all anymore, breaking /vp/ rule 5
