That playtime you're getting now you won't have it later in the game
There are only a limited amount of raids and the area is quite small and quickly explored

in every other pokemon game the pokemon you face are always lower than your higher level pokemon

There's nothing inherently wrong with caves or diving. Nobody complains about those biomes in platformers.
The problem was, for years, you needed an HM to dive or get through caves (either flash, strength, rock smash) and the pacing of the exploration was ruined by random encounters every few steps.

Caves in LGPE were a million times more bearable than in any other installment of the franchise.
