>>41222977After gym 6, the routes feel even faster. Along the way to gym 7, you literally go through a hallway that's supposed to represent an entire town. You don't get to explore it, it's just one linear hallway. And that's how a lot of the later stages of the game are, just one linear route to the next.
By the time you hit gym 8 and the actual endgame, the game starts reusing assets heavily. No elite 4. They instead have you battle old gym leaders. If you get through that, you're awarded with more extremely linear and controlled content to the ending. There isn't even proper cutscenes at one point, but instead a slideshow like they left in story drafts for a cutscene instead of actually animating it. The actual cutscenes feel lazy at this point too, while at the start they were genuinely good (starter choice vs the renowned turning dog cutscene is a good example of this).
Now, let's say you get through all that. Onto postgame. Gonna be good, right? Nah. Game stalls you more by reusing assets again. This wouldn't be an issue if this and the battle tower were the only postgame you get.
Basically, after 6-7 it feels so damn rushed, and at the ending it's almost like they didn't even finish parts of this game and threw in whatever they had completed.
