>>41230125While I'm only currently in the mines, so far I think I might actually agree. It has the XY problem of good overworld themes but bad battle themes. Only battle theme I really like so far is Bede, and it's hard for me to remember the rest besides the normal battle theme (not great, but not horrible) and the gym battle (quite grating, although I like the dynamic instrumentation idea). I've liked all town themes up to this point besides the water gym's city, but I'm pretty ambivalent on the routes and caves. I guess time will tell if I end up liking this or XY more.
>>41231198I agree that the songs need to be more melodic. Bede's theme is an example of how the more electronic style can produce some amazing results, and I think the town themes are pretty good.
>>41231289Different isn't necessarily bad, but I think this kind of different is bad. Like the other guy said, I think the pendulum has swung too far in the electronic/rhythmic direction, and we could get some great tunes if they kept the same overall style but focused more on melodies.
