Are the games really as easy as everyone is saying? I just had a look at the teams and they look really good. Three fully evolved mons at the third gym

maybe im retarded but i almost lost to bede in the cave and it was really close against milo, the only time i lost it was in the wild area against a girl that had the starters

God, maybe I've been spoiled for difficulty by nuzlockeing difficulty romhacks, but at least in the surge fight in fr/lg, which was a toned down version of the fight in red/blue, all of his mons had a 60 power stab move.

Not him, but I do something similar. Not to defend the games, it's absolutely retarded that I have to really go out of my way to make it challenging, but in the absence of a Challenge Mode it's the only option. The good thing is switching around teams has allowed me to try out many more new Pokémon. I've put like 1/3 of all new Galar mons in my run so far

Yeah, no. Only Lt. Surge has such a move (in the original games, in FR/LG the best he has is Shock Wave, 60 BP). All other 3rd leaders bar Korrina have moves that are just as weak as the ones in the Fire gym. And the Pokémon aren't nearly as high in base stats either

I feel like the Exp Share is gonna keep me so ahead of the curve so I've decided to purposefully skip trainers when possible and see how that pans out for me.
I can always go back and fight them later when I'm training up other Pokemon for the PokeDex or something.

This is incorrect. It has nothing to do with Pokemon, it's a hardware thing. Specifically, if you have a certain type of formatting on your memory card, it can happen. I believe the format you want to avoid is XFAT. If your card is FAT32, which most should be, then you're fine. This comes up all the time.

if you want some challenge then don't battle wild mons only battle trainers and don't use candies or held items. Took me three tries to beat nessa and two for kabu. Also not allowed to buy items from market

I picked Grookey and only had a high-20s Binacle whose only Water move was water gun as a check and I still made it through. It wasn't easy, I had to sacrifice a few team members to wait out GigaScorch while healing and un-burning Binacle, but I made the comeback with a dynamax water move.
For the 3rd gym, not bad honestly
