If anything I figure the experiments in aesthetic help sell more Link plushies alongside all the ocarinas, shields and swords. If Pokemon risked an aesthetic change it wouldn't null the previous ones, it would just add a new lineup of merchandise that millions of fans would gladly gobble up. Pokemon's ripe for a Wind Waker moment. Especially with the backlash facing the new games.
