>>41258431>XC1 has a truly massive world for a JRPGI'm not denying that XC1 has a massive world, but it feels like you're sleeping on XC2's world, too. I think what makes it seem smaller, is the fact that the Titans are their own separate environments, instead of overly connected structures. I still think XC2 has a lot of unique monsters around, they're just scattered about.
>CombatYeah, a lot of people had issue with this. Myself included. There was more substance than XC1, but it was executed in a manner that made it feel more.. bloated, I guess. It doesn't help that you can't review tutorials for said mechanics, so you're really left experimenting, most of the time. XC1's simplicity, is preferred.
>If you're interested in getting into XC nowSee, that's the problem. You're disappointed because you've already experienced the game. That makes sense, but this remake is for the people who haven't. It allows people to play the first title, alongside XC2, while Takahashi gets to retcon, and include new elements to the original, in preparation for XC3. Both can be enjoyed as standalone titles, but the connection they share isn't so huge that you need to play both to understand XC3, more than likely. It was established in quite a well mannered way.
>But creating these series based on a long lineage is destined to failThe director is likely aware of that. Seeing as his prior series, Xenogears, and Xenosaga, were overly ambitious. The issue is, we don't know how long the mainline will continue. X is in it's own continuity, but XC1>XC2 are connected. For all we know, XC3 will be the end of the mainline saga. I don't think a series being connected hurts, so long as they don't span for tens of titles. That hurts marketing, and makes it tough for people to jump into the series.
