Better hope they scheduled some meetings or plan to take initiative. As much as these games move switches the bad press must be unsatisfying for the overall brand.

How would that work anyways? How can Nintendo take away the pokemon brand from gamefreak or assign a new team? They have equal share of TPC right?

Nintendo probably thought Gen 8 would turn out fine, but the moment they found out that it causes problems on a hardware level they probably realized something is fucked there. I imagine that TPC and possibly Game Freak assured them that everything would be fine, but something like this makes them kind of look bad. The ironic thing is that they probably delayed Animal Crossing to avoid a similar problem, which is why they probably let Game Freak fuck up like this in the first place to have a game for the holidays. As it stands they'll probably sit down TPC and try to hash out how to give Game Freak the time they need while still pumping out games to keep up with the insane speed of merchandising shit. Because while selling a game every year gets some money and some console sales, a game fucking destroying a console is bad press that you can't ignore (like bitching about dex cuts, reused assets, and lack of content all at the same time).
