Anon, the first hours are like that, specially if you wander about in the Wild. I had 15 hours clocked and had only beaten the 2nd gym, but when I decided to advance the story to unlock higher level raids, it took me no more than 5 or so hours to beat the last gym. Gym 4 and 5 are literally next to each other, so are 7 and 8.

You joke but that's actually a fucking problem.

Padding your game with cutscenes isn't how you make a good game. Playtime is meaningless when you can spend hours of it not playing the fucking thing.

Or worse still feeling like putting the controller down which, when you're supposed to be playing a game should never fucking happen.

The moment you go "AFK" from a singleplayer experience is the moment you know the game in front of you has failed a basic requirement to be considered a game.
