Games are serviceable but do the bare minimum of being a Pokemon title while having flashy and marketable features that don't really have a ton of depth, including fluff like Camp and Curry. The Wild Area, graphics aside, is fun for the initial thrill of it but get very dull after, with the area simply being an empty expanse of subareas with nothing but Pokemon and random items. Plot is weak as expected but feels more handholdy than ever before, with a Galarian Hau never ceasing to stalk you and spout his over-enthusiastic bullshit the entire game's length. The postgame is just pitiful again, with one of the worst Battle Towers we've had yet, a lame and short postgame episode, and... barely anything else. The only praise I can give these games are the quality of life changes, and the removal of random encounters was done pretty well.
Can you have fun with them? Of course. But with the quality we're dealing with, it's like junk food, and if you've played any previous Pokemon game, there's not much to set this one apart from the rest. Your money might be better spent elsewhere, like another JRPG you've been eyeing for a while.
