A unique gimmick is how they justify having yet more pokemon that won't really have any relevance anywhere. Stupid methods aren't fresh because of they've been around since gen 3, but they become more prominent the closer we get to 1,000 mons (for obvious reasons)

IMO, Dawn and Dusk Stones would make more sense for Espeon and Umbreon. That would leave the Moon Stone for Sylveon and the Sun Stone for an eventual Dragon-type Eeveelution.

The rocks weren't the problem.There's always a forest and icy dungeon in every game anyway. It's just that the rocks tend to be paced poorly and Eevee isn't even always available or vice versa. DPPt and USUM are the only games where you could get either form at a decent pace in the main story.

For the Wild Area, it's the Switch's clock. For the other areas, it's story-based.

Do the story-based areas always count as daytime for evolutions then?

If it's 11 PM, could I take an eevee to a route/city that's depicted as daytime and get an espeon? I'm so fucking confused about how time based evos work now.

I'm not sure because sometimes the story makes it night in certain towns.
I've also heard that post-game, the routes and towns switch between night and day normally like the Wild Area.

Goddamn that'd have been SOOO much better. Charjabug was the Eviolite holder for so long that he was pretty much worthless for the back half of island 3 and all of early Poni. Then since he got so much frailer on evolution, I had to rethink my team composition. Much better if I can control when it evolves instead of waiting til the next to last dungeon.

they actually changed it Blush Mountain in USUM, which was at least better. They did that for Crabominable too, by putting grass at the base of mount lanakila, so they clearly were aware of the issue

Switch Lite users can just trade the mon to a regular Switch user to evolve it for them though. Meanwhile if someone trades you a Meltan in SWSH it can literally never evolve because you can't send mons from HOME back to GO.

The Sun and Moon Stones would make more sense for the Sun and Moonlight Pokemon. That leaves the Shiny Stone (which evolves Fairy and Fairy-like Pokemon) for Sylveon.

Dusk Stone is reserved for Ghost and Dark types, while Dawn Stone is exclusively for gender specific pokemon (Gallade and Froslass).

I'm still trying to figure out how long it takes to get the Rainbow Alcremie. I will probably fuck up my joycons more than they already are. Apparently you have to SPEEN for "a very long time". I don't know if the day/night rule still applies or not.

My best time was 1 minute and 41 seconds and it still wasn't enough.

Does the camp give out Affection bonuses like Amie and Refresh? Everyone I see play the game tends to ignore the camping mechanic entirely so I can't tell what the actual benefit of it is.
