Hau was at least upfront about not being about battling, and got more serious later on in the story.
And he does get stronger as the game goes on, strong enough to make it to champion levels.
Plus, he knew how rain on Gladion's "Super Serious Sasuke" parade. That was pretty good, I'll admit.
Not to mention he would sometimes fuck off and didn't bother you -as- much Lillie.
Hop on the other hand is with you CONSTANTLY.
Christ, he's worse than Lillie.
He says he wants to get stronger and be the champion like his brother, but always gets his shit kicked in.
Not just by you, but other NPC's too.
Hau could at least catch you off guard with his Raichu, and could handle battles on his own.
And the only reason Hop even sees any important shit is because he just happens to be with you every step of the way, hanging off you like a stubborn turd until he's there with you and the legendaries.
And this dude will NOT STOP SUCKING YOUR DICK.

Hau sucked up to you too, but man does Hop take it to a new level.
You're just waiting for him to stab you in the back with how much praise he gives you.
Doesn't seem genuine in the slightest.
Hau may have been annoying, but Hop literally makes me seethe with anger.
