It's only gotten worse on both ends. Am legit autist so at best I learned how to socialize well enough that I've gone from being the weird guy everyone hates on sight to someone most people hate on sight but a few people are occassionally okay with me. Still confused over the time a friend's new girlfriend introduced themselves to me as I usually just get huffy silent treatment.

Some things about XY concerned me, but I didn't mind too much with the group of friends I had to play with and the 20th anniversary being interesting once it happened. The years have gone by and those concerns are more salient.
I went from just doing college work during XY's time while enjoying Pokemon a lot to getting a post-grad job and enjoying the TCG on my free time more than the games. Now I'm doing graduate work and Pokemon isn't really a priority. Feels great.

The former, I was bullied so hard as a kid I went mute as a teen so my early 20's was me catching up on two decade's of social skill development. I learned the hard way both reasons why people say staying friends with women that reject you is retarded. First girl I ever asked out was of the "They just can't think of a polite way of telling you to fuck off" type so it was a year of me being a pushy weirdo doing every pathetic orbiter thing in the book. I deleted everything years ago and still have flash backs.

For anyone curious, the other reason not to stay friends that I experienced a year later was that they only want an emotional tampon/favour dispenser that they will never try to be equal for.

My life got better but my favourite franchise turned to shit.

I had hope for the future of the series then. Despite disliking 3D I actually thought it a good start and that they had reasonable excuse for why all of Gen 5 and the start of 6 had been so content voided.

I thought for sure the follow ups would fix the issues and instead there wasn't a main follow up and they quadrupled down in nonsense with the remakes so I basically had no hope for Gen 7. Especially when they refused to even keep building on shit they did keep like Megas. And then their follow ups didn't even keep up with the regional formes.

My life in general hasn't changed much since then. Early 2010 through late 2012 was a huge upset in many ways (and honestly looking back it's probably the only reason I considered Gen 5 worth a purchase because Pokémon was what I clung to to not off myself) but there hasn't been overall much change since then besides losing a pet a couple years back who'd been with me for 50% of my life at the time he died.

I tried getting back into Pokemon with X/Y since they seemed exciting at the time, being the first mainline 3d titles. Now I don't know if they stand out as much.

Honestly I think the series peaked with Gen 3. Gen 4 onwards were just grindy, uninteresting messes.

Gen 6 was the last decent Pokémon games that were released. X/Y had a poor post game, with no third version to redeem its shortcomings.
ORAS was a step up from X/Y, but still fell flat with all the handholding, no battle frontier, etc. I can look past the crappy storyline, because R/S/E wasn’t much better in that department.

The subsequent games confirmed my hunch, I lost any hope after the announcement of LGPE.

I'm 24 now. Still shut in. SWSH managed to be even worse than what I expected and reading normalfags fake fans defend those shitty games turned the mild intollerance I had for them into full blown hatred. I pirated Sword, played for a couple of hours and stopped after getting bored, haven't touched it since then.
