>>41275829Ah, how interesting. Comparing two games in a disingenuous way. Here let me help straighten you out a bit there.
Pokemon Red, Blue, (depending on your location Green) Yellow.
Generation of games: 1st generation.
Number of pokemon in the game: 150/151 Originally Mew couldn't be caught in game without hacking.
Story and environment: Story is about as good for story on a gameboy game gets, which is to say pretty good. Environment was diverse, with many puzzles and dungeons.
There are different other things to consider, but ultimately for it's time and even now, I would pick up Pokemon yellow and enjoy going through and replaying it, even with it's age it is a classic that has aged well.
Glitches and errors occurred with these games however no occurrence of outright system errors, turns out Gameboy was a robust handheld.
Pokemon Sword and Shield
Generation of games: 8th generation
Number of pokemon in game: 400/890 There is over 450+ pokemon in the data of the game, at this point like mew they are uncatchable without hacking.
Story and environment: The story as most people playing the game is bland and uninspired. Environment has one new aspect (wild area, open world), but outside of that is boring. At best most could be replaced with areas from gen 7 and actually be more exciting. (Say what you will, but gen 7 had dungeons)
It still remains to be seen if this will be of any use other than a place holder generation. So far nothing really separates this too much from the previous gen outside of a slight tech boost from the system it is playing on.
Also about that, so far many bugs have been discovered with the games. Some are attributing this to issues with the system itself which may be true, however more and more issues are coming out as the game is playing on more systems. This points to bad game design as QA testing would have bore this out ahead of time.
Hmmm, yeah I don't think this is even a competition.
