To this day I genuinely think XY had the best clothes. Everything looked either cute or super fancy and it was just great. Or maybe I'm just biased since it was easier to replicate my irl clothing with Serena than what I see is available in SwSh.

XY had way less color options for everything but it was super easy and fun to mix and match. Everything vaguely went together and was cute too.
Unless you really try to put something together in SM and SwSh you look like you got dressed in the dark.

XY had the best variety.
Sun/Moon had the best colour choices and sandals
Sword/Shield is a halfway between the two, though has much better customisation options in terms of hair and makeup.

Only XY has ginger hair though, so my answer is XY.
