They really didn't need promote a new Pokémon with a Mega. If anything, it was more effective giving Mega to old Pokémon since there's actually a fanbase behind them. Not sure why Galar has this much G-Max to new Pokémon though, maybe they are really doing this because the gimmick will be replaced on the future and they really need create merch for the new mons.
