With your typical Nintendo game, everyone over the age of 13 thinks of them as fun games, but not anything else. They don't look deep and admire the difficulty of some sections, nor do they take a step back and analyze the platformer genre, of which Nintendo has an effective monopoly over. It is those who are able to appreciate the subtleties of each game that know what is what, and what isn't.
Up next is your average shmup. Most shmups are uninspired garbage that only tryhards go for. Only someone with no life outside of their games could strive for a position of 'honor' in this genre. The generic themes, weapon choices, and inclusion of unrealistic health packs in an otherwise simulatory masterpiece all devalue them in a connoisseur's eye.
In the end, go for something rated between 7 and 9, because everything else is either shit, or has reviews which were bought out by a major company."
