>>41297067I wouldn't say Alola's writing was GOOD per se. Even ignoring the ultra changes version, the original SM had a terribly paced plot that made it feel as though they were planning to have the story develop slower but ran out of time.
While the plot develops a good setting a lot better than most of the games, it ends up heavily backloading most of the game's important events in a horribly lopsided way. The beginning is very slow, the middle is somewhat slow, then the end goes lightning speed immediately, Lillie gets kidnapped, her mom jumps in a wormhole, you jack into the wormhole with a legendary like fucking megaman.exe in a pet and then the game's story is pretty much over except for the standard league.
Of course it's better writing wise than most other Pokemon games I agree, but that's not saying much when the competition is excuse plots and idiocy like Team Aqua or bad people stealing Pokemon. I enjoyed it, but I also enjoyed USUM's plot despite the inferiorities and smaller character focus.
Unova I only played BW2 so I can't comment on the story there.
