>>41306420As far as referencing Kanto all Gen V really has is the Pikachu balloon in Nimbasa, a bridge being nicknamed after Charizard, and giving Mewtwo a signature move for an event which is all kind of lesser compared to what other generations references get in Gen V:

People also try to use adding older pokemon to the native dex as proof it still panders to Kanto, but the vast majority of returning pokemon are from lines that have evolutions spanning multiple generations. Not to mention the World Tournament.Basically Gen V is the one generation that treats everything before it equally it doesn't value one over the other.
