GameFreak has a yearly revenue of 231 million dollars just from games without including their 33% of merchandise.
They have 143 employees so they have roughly 1.5 million dollars per employee. Employees are the biggest cost in making a game. Let's say they pay half a million dollars to every employee (they don't). That's still 159 million dollars. Let's say they have a variety of expenses (building, computer, software) and that's 50 million dollars every year (this is insane and just to show how much margin they have, it's probably a tenth of that or less).
There's still 109 million dollars of profit and that's without even including their merchandise share.
