Peak was SS for me. I was in my sophomore year of high school when it came out and my dad had died like 2 months before hand. The childhood nostalgia factor with a new coat of paint and tons of new content and features right around that time was perfect.

Everyone that was in my school that got of pokemon a while ago, all got hyped and got into it again, everyone had pokewalkers in the halls, I reconnected with some old friends thru SS.

I started with LeafGreen but didn't play much after Mt Moon. The first game I properly finished was Gold.
I would say Emerald was the peak too

blue/red were fine, but easy at times.
skipped original gs for heartgold, pretty damn good
on emerald now, its ok but not great. i dont feel as invested in the story and i feel that i have to grind quite a bit

Hoenn is when the series kamikaze'd. It tried to crawl out of the crash with Sinnoh. Then it reached the summit with Unova. Kalos wasn't too big of a slide down the mountain. Alola was close enough to jump from Kalos' ledge and not break anything. With SwSh the series is being attacked by the wildlife.

I've always wanted to play Emerald but with the physical/special split of Gen 4. Especially to work on the battle frontier.

Is there any mod out there that has all the pokemon (at least till Kalos) and has the physical/special split? Cos I'm still pissed we got cucked out of that in ORAS when all I wanted to do was stomp those fuckers with my mega-blaziken
