I thought it was implied that Lusamine only kept Guzma around because he reminded her of Xurkitree.
Also I think she purposefully dressed up as Pheremosa, and dressed Lillie like Nihilego.

The only thing that was mentioned was that Lusamine picked out Lillie's clothes. Intentionally making Lillie look like a UB is just conjecture, it was never explained at all.
Guzma/Xurkitree was never explained at all.
And that tidbit about Nihilego acting like a little girl? Never referenced at all, just dex fluff.

Sun and Moon had so many plot points that could have been so much more in a better, more fully realized game.

Sylvally and Arceus, the UBs and their similarities to people, the alchemy bull shit. Shame it was so inspired but unfinished.

back during the leak/hype season leading up the the SM release, people started noticing similarities between certain characters that had been revealed and revealed UBs. Lusamine/Pheromosa, Guzma/Xurkitree, Nihilego/Lillie, etc. Part of this led on by the fact the UBs never had their official name revealed until the leaks started coming out, just code names like UB-Hat for Nihilego and UB-Beauty for Pheromosa.

Yeah they kept the Lillie/Nihilego one and made it a subtle story element, Lusamine was subconsciously dressing Lillie like Nihilego because she was obsessed with it.

I'm guessing the art for the characters was completed before whatever stage in production the story was altered. The Lusamine/Pheromosa one REALLY sticks out.
