What is the actual point of gigantimax? Does it really just give one sidegrade of a move and that's it?

Why would anyone use something like gigantimax butterfree if it's just a sidegrade over a normal shitty dynamaxed butterfree?

Is just about size.
Nothing else for it.
Megas are more interesting and well implemented gimmick than Gyga/Dyna.
Megas almost doesn't make all of the damn plot a piece of shit like in Sword/Shield.
A huge changes and most of them have a better design (Megas).
Megas for some strange reason, manifest a revived interest for old or useless Pokemon (no intentional offense if you like A or B).

Butterfree isn’t really a sidegrade honestly, in singles maybe depending on what you’re trying to do, but a 1/3 chance to sleep and a 1/3 chance to para still seem worth it over the spatk drop in most cases

Let’s not be hasty here, bro. Megas had some promise but they weren’t well-balanced amongst themselves and almost all of them boiled down to mega evolving immediately without giving a shit. Dynamax is pretty shit too, but at least it has some thought behind it for doubles

Yes it does, because the whole mechanic is based around team building and only having one slot. If one is broken the entire mechanic is broken. The best part about Dynamax is that it's potentially useful on anything on your team if it helps counter whatever the opponent is playing.

Design-wise at least, the best I can say about it is unlike dynamax it allows for some creative freedom in what some truly colossal pokémon would look like.

Giga Centiskorch is one of my favorites in this regard. That thing's 246 feet long. Its whole body contorts into a giant heating element when it attacks. That's some A+ design.

This is why I like Gigantamax more than Megas, all the designs are actually something clever with the fact that the Pokemon gets big instead of just "hurr just make it edgier or repeat more accessories it/its pre-evos had"

My argument is that they did add something to the game by making shit like Beedril, Mawile, Absol, Pinsir, Charizard, etc viable and giving them a niche in an otherwise overcrowded game. Not their fault one or two of their friends got a gratuitously unnecessary power boost from the same mechanic.

Different Pokemon becoming viable and other Pokemon becoming worse in the process doesn't mean the game is better. Also most of the shit you listed isn't even viable because of the existence of Gengar/Kanga/Salamence. Beedrill is still fucking unusable anywhere except Smogon's fanfic tiering system, which at that point Megas are STILL pointless because any Pokemon can be viable if you just make up tiers they're viable in.

Motherfucker you're going to have to explain yourself. Because Megas either breathed new life into some pokemon or remixed the playstyles of others. Charizard got to dip into its physical moveset and be viable. Charizard also got to turn into a special nuke that could also support team members with a weather condition. Lopunny got a Fighting typing and was allowed to target Ghosts with both her STABs. Beedrill got to be a min maxed bullet that could target specific threats. Pidgeot was a Focus Blast away from being the special sweeper it always wanted to be. Mawile and Kangaskhan got to play with the big boys for the first time in their lives. Sableye was allowed to hard counter set up mons.

So don't tell me Megas added nothing because that is objectively bullshit

Gigatamax is SS post game. It's something you're supposed to collect after you beat the game, just something extra to do. Dynamax is this gend equivalent of mega evolution or z moves. Gmax is a silly post game thing to add extra play time.

Nope. Sandaconda becomes a giant tornado. Toxtricity becomes a big transmission tower. Orbeetle becomes a UFO. Snorlax becomes an island. They're all actual interesting designs instead of "DUDE THING BUT OVERDESIGNED XD"

Newsflash: Megas were a buff that some pokemon desperately needed. Most of the pokemon dominating OU/Ubers/VGC were NOT Megas. Only a few of them were. But without Megas pokemon like Beedrill have no reason to exist... wait a minute

Literally everything breathes new life into Pokemon. HAs breathed new life into Pelipper and Serperior. The dex cut breathed new life into Ditto and Durant. Fairy type breathed new life into Clefable. This isn't a thing you need Megas for, all it did was fuck up the balance of the game even more by having retarded overcentralizing bullshit.
