You fags don't get it, do you? This is true art. As each game sees the protagonist be the same age throughout, the limited lifespan of he switch is commentary on the induced lifespan of all of our childhoods, and the realization that we must put the games down sometime and face the real world.
This game is meant to be rushed, hence the short story length, while at the same time the unskippable cutscenes are meant to represent the facets of our childhood preventing us from enjoying it to our hearts desires. You may look at Hop interrupting you 50 times within the first hour of the game and think "Holy shit, soon my entire Moon collection in Odyssey is going to be completely bricked and this little faggot will not shut up," but those of us with intellect and an eye for postmodern symbolism will instead look at it as "yes, a lot of my childhood was spent on chores, but it prepared me for the adult world, so it wasn't entirely wasted." You may be thinking "Sure, let's turn battle animations off, if only to save a little bit of time since watching a static model wipe its ass isn't worth bricking my hardware," but those of use with clear vision to the theme Game Freak is trying to convey see it as "life is better if we cut the extraneous, and instead focus on our core fundamentals of our own happiness." Small brain plebeians will see the mandate of turning off autosave while putting the console in airplane mode as a ridiculous safeguard, but in truth these are to make us reflect on our own self-esteem, for we must find security in our own selves before expecting anything from anyone, as the cruel world will abuse us if we mindlessly open up to it without heeding caution.
Our lives are all like a Switch running Sword and Shield, each of them doomed to be bricked and unusable in due time. What matters is the journey we commence along the way, and this is clearly what the devs were going for.
