Here on showdown, we pick a person to be the "champ". and by picking i mean whoever says "me champ" first (with a tripcode) is champ.
once someone has claimed the title, the first six suggestions made by other anons will make up the team. exceptions can be made, as for example, now in gen8, some pokemon are illegal, or the same pokemon is posted twice.
if the name of a set isnt found, its common to just choose solid suggester (rhyperior). its a bit of a meme, "hey anon i cant find this"

now, each battle is to be posted in the thread, champ is not allowed to skip any suggestions (unless the exception clause kicks in) and champ is not allowed to forfeit any battles. this may otherwise end up with getting impeached if the champ does not correct their mistake.
once champ is bored of losing they either call for a new team or new champ.
new teams should not be called frequently.
WHAT ARE MEMES?
some pokémon are simply inside jokes/memes, such as solid suggester (rhyperior) or hoge, or funbro (rip)
what makes it a "meme set"? well... nothing really. it can be a normal smogonset, but it needs an epic nickname. or a very OU pokémon with an unconventional and unexpected moveset that just works!
most sets are on
dogars.ml , so if someone suggests something that isnt the name of a pokémon, check it, then its just to copypaste the set.
anything that is legal in the format is allowed, default format in [current gen] OU, but champ can call for Ubers, doubles, AG.
the rest is shitposting/circlejerking in the battles (follow the latest showdown link) and thats where the dumbassery happens.
