From a content standpoint they were when they were the newest release but at least X/Y doesn't go out of it's way to waste your time constantly and let's you actually play what is there without too much interruption from story when that's not what Pokémon was about to begin with. You know, unlike Gen 5 and 7.
Pretty funny that you end up having less time wasted from 3 friends and a rival in X/Y than you do with just one friend and a rival in B/W and 2 friends and a rival in S/M.
