I've been waiting 20 years for a pure bug legendary and now I have to wait for another gen, I too am growing a bit jaded as a whole especially with how they treat bug types

You and me both anon. I’m struggling to bring myself to finish SM/USUM, it’s like I lost motivation.

SS is piss easy though, once you’re past the third gym you blow throw the rest of the game. The only reason the first three take any time at all is because of cutscenes

I can't recall what my time in X was. But yeah, about 40 in and I put Sun on hold. I think I also just don't like playing games on 3DS. Either way, I'm trying to pick it up again and at least finish it out.

I like Pokemon, but sometimes it just feels like the same shit again and again and if you don't like the new features in a game you might as well not play

That's exactly what it is. The first five gens had a clear progression of the battle mechanics but gen 6 and on don't. They have rotating battle mechanics instead. The rest of the gameplay has always been more or less the same, too. Compare the following to how how much innovation happens in pretty much any other JRPG franchise between games

Set up the base
>gen 2
Revamped the stat system
>gen 3
Added doubles and abilities
>gen 4
Introduced the physical/special split
>gen 5
Introduced hidden abilities, triple battles, rotation battles, wonder launcher
>gen 6
Introduced megas, horde battles, sky battles, and one inverse battle, but removed triple battles, rotation battles, and wonder launcher
>gen 7
Introduced Z moves and SOS, but removed horde/sky/inverse battles
>gen 8
Introduced dynamax and raid battles but removed megas, Z moves, and SOS

I was the same as you OP but I caved and got shield. Best game they’ve made since the switch to 3D. Even with its flaws and cut corners.
