How did she get so much more popular than her male counterpart? I feel like this is unprecedented, even Gen 6 and 7’s male player characters got some love, but nothing for Gen 8’s boy.

Calem is probably the best looking male protag
SM Male Protag doesn't have any personality since he doesn't appear in any official media. He's not the only MC with no actual character but he's also the most "basic" looking one of all male MCs, having almost no unique trait. These two combined makes him arguably the easiest MC to self insert into
USUM Male Protag is ok but most people are already gotten used to SM one

I said it back in gen 6, no one is playing Ken in Barbie dress up: the game. The female has far more fashion, style, and hair choices where playing as the male is literally chosing to play a game with less content. I don't play gen 8 nor plan to but gen 7 let female even have make up.

If you want people to care about the male player, they need to make his options more enticing, give him face paint since girls get make up, give him more crazy exclusive gimmicked attire and style selection, more hair styles. As it stands there is zero reason to play the male character over the female.

Ever since her design was revealed and her homeland people characterized Gloria as someone with a bit of a temper problem doue ot memes but also due to the determined and focus face in battle that changes to complete joy in victory. Victor thanks to his beanie and that backback has been characterized as a soiboy and nobody wants to be or play as that, with Sun and Moon both of them were the same character facial expression wise and design wise so it was either or just like Trace and Elaine

I can't wait to see what their pokmeon special counterparts are like.

I wonder,tho. gens 1 and 2 didn't have this issue, could it be because May and Dawn were main characters? No that can't be it, Serena was one,too but nobody really liked anime Serena, they liked Y more or game Serena
