I don't know which one, haven't seen it but it very clearly looks like an edited tileset.
The gba roms are very malleable, people can make the games look completely different

this probably hurts the most, exploring the maps was always one of my favorite things to do. I'd be nice if they brought back hidden grottos and stuff, maybe expand upon them by making them like mini viridian forests that are randomly slapped together, give add like TRs and other worthwhile loot in them, maybe give them an increased chance of the interactable pokemon at the end being shiny, some max IVs, egg move and HA. Maybe have it so you can find mons who are mega'd or even gigantimax'd if they every put both in the same game in the future.

I haven't played SwSh yet. But is it as handholdy as sun and moon? I remember that game would let you explore for more than 5 seconds without a cutscene starting or your rival stopping you to tell you exactly what to do and where to go, and even marking it on the map. Shit was the opposite of exploration, it didnt feel like I was going on a journey, it felt like I was being led down a sightseeing tour

Is it bad I don't think this is a very good route design? The grass and trees look too much alike, and while I enjoy the overall landscaping the actual path to travel is super cramped for its entirety.

This one has three buildings that aren't a gym, pokecenter or pokemart though.

That said D/P is almost fifteen years old and this is one of the smallest towns in the game. Only Floaroma town is smaller I think. But I guess it's fine if a $60 Switch game offers the same experience as a $40 DS game that was made a decade and a half ago.

Snowpoint has the ruins as a major site for potential archaeological activity, as well as an obvious export venue and the only major source of Ice-types in the region by route proximity, which just so happen to be the strongest counter to the champion's ace. More linear, but a bit less handholding imo. Hop is an annoying fucker, but outside of waiting outside gyms he's only there for the usual rival fights. You get fast travel super early on as well which helps you feel less railroaded.
