wait if they are just projections then why are dynamaxed pokemon scary? dynamaxed pokemon going on a rampage was supposed to be a scary thing, sonia even worries about pokemon potentially dynamaxing in the middle of the city when plot things started to happen

The pokemon doesn't physically get bigger, it's a hard light brojection, not a laser light show. Green Lantern rings just fire "projections" but they routinely create, destroy, and preserve galaxies with them.

I think the idea is that the projections can be thought of like an aura. Their power has increased so greatly that it is as if they would be massive.
