Actually this was kind of our first real gorilla. Darmanitan is way too ambiguous and more of an orangutan and Slaking is a sloth gorilla hybrid.. thing?

yeah but in all of Grookey's promotional text it was saying stuff like "Grookey's fur absorbs solar energy and when grookey bangs it's stick it makes plant life thrive" and shit. I know music was a big part of it's design but when I was reading these promo blurbs the whole druid thing was clicking in my head
