>>41372380>>41372896>>41372953>>41373005There's multiple hurdles that Scires lays out himself. He's just doing groundwork, he doesn't intend to do all the extra shit and will leave that to the autists.
All the gruntwork of figuring out move lists and balancing shit is tedious but doable. Some moves have been straight up removed though, and it's unclear if certain abilities will be even in the game's programming, so those would need to be changed too.
There's also artistic issues that need to be addressed. All the mon need updated textures, as well as added Specular and Normal maps since those are a thing now. They also NEED new animations to keep the game from softlocking when it tries to call these animations that don't exist in their current data.
That's all stuff that's reasonable for the autistic fanbase to figure out, though I fear there'll be a LOT of arguing over who's mod packs do shit right which could slow things down substantially.
The far bigger issue that Scires will likely be tackling is how to add all the above properly. Particularly, the Pokemon data format. People have been able to extract stuff from the files, but I don't think anyone has cracked repacking it into that format. The only reason Omastar somewhat worked is cause LGPE and S/S use the same format, but with more shit in the file for S/S. The 3DS games use an entirely different format so we'd need to extract the stuff from that one and convert it to the newer format.
Figuring out that will probably take quite a bit longer, especially to have it readily available for the masses to mod with.
