I'm sure Nintendo's plan was to sell 20 million copies of the gen 8 games but will not be able to due to the games being a complete disappointment.

The game probably sold way more copies digitally than you'd expect.
But we all knew the game would sell like crazy. It's pokemon. They could ship out boxes full of turgid shit and they'd still sellout.

The vouchers are a good deal for certain games like Xenoblade 2 that are normally significantly more expensive over there (which is why that game suddenly shot back to the top of the Eshop rankings when the voucher system debuted), but using it on games that are normal price or close to normal price is pretty pointless and basically wastes the voucher.

Ever since the Switch started Nintendo has encouraged a culture of buying things digitally rather than cartridge as the price that would have been spent on a cartridge goes to Nintendo and the retailers cut goes to Nintendo, as a gamer you don't have to switch out carts all the time when changing games either. Digital copies came with some in game bonuses like free quick balls too as an added incentive to buy digital over cartridge. Nintendo don't throttle download speeds for no reason other than to piss off its consumers like they do on Sony either.

Likely, well over 80% of the sales are downloads and Nintendo don't crow over this because they like to dodge tax where possible.

Like I did when this kind of thread first popped up by pointing out how it sold a lot worse than I expected and several people went full retard trying to convince me I hadn't been telling them it wasn't going to flop.

I sure am still seething here for finding out they sold 50% of what I expected them to and with digital sales possibly still hit my less than 1% chance range because I never expected either bit I absolutely expected 3 million about 500 times more likely than 1.8.

Funniest part is one of them is now trying to convince everyone it sold as well as I expected it to physically alone.

As an autist whose life has been pretty fucked up by it, it's nice to know it could always be much, much worse as these shitposters who can't comprehend having their own shit thrown back in their faces show.

Not for Nintendo. Nintendo introduced the Switch Lite what, a month ago? And if a hardware revision is introduced they increase production costs while eating in to Nintendo's own margins on the original Switch.

From Nintendo's perspective, SS may be a disappointment because they designed the Switch Lite with the Pokemon launch in mind. If SS doesn't sell a shit ton of Switch Lites, enough to make up for the lost margin on the original Switch, it was a bad launch.

I'm sure TPCI will probably find the launch profitable because they spent almost no money promoting it, and relied on YouTube shills and leaks to do the promotion for them. That's why the DMCA notifications this time came from Nintendo, and not TPCI. They intentionally gave review copies out like candy expecting viral leaks, and Nintendo didn't want that.

Disney spends $100M on promotion for a single $200M movie. That's +50% in costs. It's worth if since they end up grossing over a $1B, but for movies like Solo with a narrow profit margin, even a mild success seems like a bomb.

TPCI was charged with marketing SS and they chose not to. For /vp/, this is a worst case scenario. It means YouTube shills can sell a game as if they were celebrity endorsements, for the small price of an early-access review copy instead of a multimillion ad campaign.

You CANNOT steamroll this game with an over-leveled monster. This game requires strategy and Digivolving a lot, which is good because blasting through Digivolutions is the best part of the game (the second Cyber Sleuth added 100 monsters) so strategizing and raising your Digis is really fun, bosses are hard as fuck (and there’s a hard mode) so you’ll have white knuckles and feel really rewarded when you win. Another great thing is that any Digimon can become any other Digimon, and any Digimon can learn any attack, and there are “natures” (no IVs) and EVs that can be adjusted manually whenever, so you can make your own custom modded Digimon any fucking way you want, it’s sick. Battles are similar to Pokémon with type advantages and stuff, but the NPCs will always do the ideal move, not just spam growl, it’s genuinely challenging which forces you to plan your team carefully. I think 1 has 300 mon and 2 has 400. Also has NG+, online battles, and a plot that isn’t Dora the Explorer cringe like Ohmori. Oh also, a built in serebii/Pokédex Digimon Field Guide that lets you map the Digis stats and look at their move sets. It’s fucking sweet anyone saying these games suck are shills. One last thing, the complete edition which both games rolled into one with all the DLC is on the switch (and steam too I think)
t. Like 400 hours into both these games

You can’t cheese any boss with status conditions, and if you actually played the game, you’d know that you pretty much HAVE to have a type advantage over mid/late game bosses or you’re gonna get fucking raped, even if you’re at a neutral level. The "strategy" against bosses boils down to rock paper scissors because type advantage is too important, a data type mon attacking with an element that's advantageous against a virus' element still does jack shit in terms of damage because it'll just hit for .75x.
