Speaking as somebody who plays the game competitively, it's hard to say.
On one hand, it sold pretty well, getting 1.3m sales after 9 months on WiiU and selling the same amount in less time for Switch, so likely around 3m or so sales total; and it's grand finals at worlds seriews events tends to get a good amount of views, as much or more then VGC and TCG.
On the other hand, the overall state of spinoffs is sort of up in the air, and while it sold good and does get views on youtube for those events, it didn't sell amazing and doesn't get much social media buzz in general; and it flew under the radar for most people. Moreover, a huge part of WHY it didn't get huge has a lot to do with TPCI's poor marketing and support, so they may not care much about it to begin with.
I'm not getting my hopes up, but it's possible.
>>41367274You can still find matches in matchmaking, and the main community discord (
discord.gg/pokken) still has a few hundred active people, but the game's not at a ton of major fighting game events anymore. Still at a fair amount, but yeah.
I'd say if you have a switch and like fighting games, to go for it, buyt keep in mind that it IS a competitive fighting game and if you only wanna play single player or to pop it in every few weeks, you won't get much out of it, you gotta play regularlyt and make an effort to learn and get better
