I'd say that you have improved some aspects and worsened in other areas. Your backgrounds seem better in older works, as instead of flat colors you tried capturing environments instead. The background in this most recent piece is a bad color choice more than anything. It's too bright and doesn't combine well with the subject matter. Try muting the color and adding texture or noise if you want it to be neutral back there. If you truly want that color to be the BG then at least work it in as bounce lighting in the figure, otherwise it visually doesn't fit together.
I think the best advice for you though is to spend more time on the sketching phase of your painting. The proportions are very off and if you render it all out then the results are strange.
