Essentially, now, wild shinies will almost always have squares while bred shinies will almost always have stars. This "fuckup" allows for more options with showcasing your autism.
No one can say for certain if GF just totally missed this or if they saw it and decided instead of taking time to fix it, they'd just leave it be as it actually served a purpose that hadn't originally thought of (or hell, maybe they even knew it'd be like this and just set things up this way since it was easier).
Point is, there's no way of knowing how GF thought of this issue itself, but the fact of the matter is it's a good thing.
