Can we just skip to the part where gamefreak just retcons gigantamaxing into dynamaxed mega evolutions?
If we kept Mega Evolution when Z-Moves were introduced, we should be able to keep some of the more interesting gigantamax forms as mega evolutions when dynamaxing is thrown in the trash in gen 9
