>>41372318They really fucked up the ice types this gen, and certain other mons (ie: the fucking gears, Amoongus, the sunfish, and maybe Gigalith) are all pretty fucking ugly. You've also got a bunch of blatant concept-copies of other Pokemon, like Bouffalant, the cactus, the 3 monkeys, Throh/Sawk, etc... And of course you get a few every generation, like Basculin, that are just fairly unremarkable in general and are really only in the game to add flavor/ diversity to the roster.
Other than them, however, I actually enjoy most of this gen's Pokemon. There are some real winners in here, like Krookodile, Confagrigus, Volcarona, Hydreigon, Leavanny, Bisharp, Sigilyph, Haxorus and Zoroark. Even girls got some great Pokemon like Gothitelle, Mandibuzz and Jellicient, so there's something for everyone to like. Did this generation go overboard on the legendaries and add way too many of them? Absolutely it did. That being said, while I'm not in love with most of them, most of them are at least passable, and Genesect in particular is actually a pretty awesome Pokemon.
I'm not going to be a shillfaggot and claim that Gen 5 was some perfect generation. It isn't, not by any means. It recycled more concepts for Pokemon than almost any other generation, including Gen 8 (which is so bad that I won't even buy it.) But it did do those concepts justice, and all of the additions to the roster feel like sensible ones that you really would be expected to find on the other side of the world. "We are different, yet the same" is a message that Pokemon has been running with for a long time.
