>the route design is non-existent>the rival character is the worst in the series>the story makes less sense than any before (holy FUCK, Rose)>the game has the same overload of hand-holding that S/M had>the game is the easiest to date, and this is coming off of X/Y and S/M>the game is particularly devoid of content (what do you do once you've beaten the League in less than 20 hours? just spend all your time in the Wild Area?)>the graphics are mediocre -- not the worst, but certainly not up to par>the whole game feels like it's unfinished and was rushed out the door>despite GF building a paid service to transfer Pokemon from game to game, there are still tons of Pokemon you outright cannot bring into Sword or Shield>the Pokemon being removed was supposedly for graphics reasons, but the model geometry for old mons is still from X/Y (the textures have been updated)there's a few good things I could say, but ultimately, the games are a disappointment

GF has done pretty reasonable results given the hardware for each generation up until Gen 6.
Mind you, it's a lot harder to do much worse than average graphics on the GB, GBA, or DS, but ultimately, GF was riding with the pack. Not particularly far behind, not particularly far ahead.
