>>41397089Corviknight has a couple of roles it can play; its movepool isn’t super deep but it gets enough options to make it pretty versatile. Roost is obviously a must on any build, and Impish is usually the best nature. I’ve seen full stall sets using Defog for hazard control, U-turn to pivot, and an attack to prevent being Taunt bait. It can make good use of Taunt itself, too. My favorite sets are Bulk Up builds, which I initially thought would be just fun to dick around with but they’re surprisingly potent, possibly even the optimal role. If it gets set up late in the game it can function as a win condition. EVs on a BU set want max HP and probably at least a good chunk of Sp.D, then with some Def. Brave Bird’s power is generally worth the recoil, but it does get Drill Peck if you want to play it safe. Substitute can be super valuable with Bulk Up tanks but personally I prefer to have coverage. Body Press is a fucking perfect move for Corvi, using its higher Defense stat to attack and getting boosted by BU. It also completely shuts down the wildly popular Excadrill and can turn it into setup bait. You could go for Iron Head STAB if your team is afraid of Fairies, and even Power Trip is an option with its hilariously strong snowball effect alongside the boosts.
Where I’m personally still stuck is which ability to choose. Pressure has been the butt of jokes in past generations but Corviknight can actually put it to good use. It’s not very flashy, and it’s quite passive overall, but it’s always active and it works best on a fat mon like Corvi. Dedicated walls and Bulk Up birds both appreciate it. It can stall out hazard setters, opposing STAB attacks and Max Moves, and enemy healing. On the other hand, Mirror Armor is more situational but has a great payoff. A Bulk Up tank being able to “no u” Intimidate is pretty awesome. It also stuffs stat drops from Max Moves, King’s Shield, Mystical Fire, Crunch, Shadow Ball, etc.
