I get the drake and fish parts, but dino is for the extinct seal so that makes literally no sense, and yes I know Raptors are closely related to birds, but why the fuck call it the bird fossil instead of dino and renaming dino as sea fossil or mammal fossil.

They're not. How it seems to work is Shield has two prominent fossils (Drake and Fish) and Sword has two prominent fossils (Bird and Dino). It is still possible to get the other game's fossils from the left guy of the Digging Duo in the Wild Area, but the other game's fossils seem to be the two rarest items, even rarer than bottle caps.

Not gonna lie, I'd be interested in seeing this. There's also the possibility of sticking Tyrantrum's head onto Cradily's body (and possibly neck, if needed?) sorta like Dracovish, basically rendering the damn thing immobile due to sheer size alone.

I think they might have fucked up the code for the sprites of Drake and Fish. Drake supposedly resurrects a Stegosaur tail yet the sprite pretty clearly shows a Dunkleosteus skull, which is what the Fish fossil creates. Additionally the Bird fossil is yellow (electric) while the Dino fossil is a darker shade of blue (ice), so it stands to reason the Drake fossil being green (dragon) and the Fish fossil being blue (water) should be a thing. Maybe I'm just autistic but I genuinely think they mixed up the sprites.

My theory is that some programmer thought the Stegosaur tail fossil looked like a Fish (which to be fair it somewhat does) and assumed that sprite was meant for the fish as a result. I'm not sure what they're called in Japanese, but I'm guessing this is what has happened.

If you give her a Dunkleosteus skull the creature should have a Dunkleostus head, which Dracozolt (made with a Drake Fossil) doesn't. The names being odd (dino but it's a sea creature?) makes sense and fits the theme, but I do think the sprite mixup is an error.
