None, really. SMT has monster collecting with much better gameplay but the emotional connection to the monsters doesn't really exist. That is still Pokemons forté.

Persona is literally Pokemon if it had grown up alongside you. It's the best monster collecting game out there, and probably the best jrpg around.

Yokai Watch is the closest you'll get to a Pokemon-like experience.
It also has truckloads of content. Skip the 1st game, since the 2nd game is basically the same thing with more stuff.

I' cuious myself. From the 30 minutes I played a long ime ago, it seemed a bit too linear. But maybe I'm wrong.

It does have fusions (synthesis), so he attachment to your creatures can't be that long.
