Why the fuck do you think Game Freak tried so damn hard to condition the National Dex fact to just petty interviews and a fockin' Famitsu article? Do you really think everyone reads those? No, because the only reason people even knew about this fact beforehand was because of bloody word of mouth, spread like wildfire, mixed with complaints from seeing jarring quality from the trailers and images alone. That's still not enough to discern the product's actual content, but that's still quite a lefty lot and would severely impact the games' sales, if it weren't for the fact that this franchise is a colossal social leech waiting to be purchased each year by the masses and waved around with constant marketing PR stunts + already existing merchandising + years of games that they kept piling on.
